Thank you

A massive thank you to goes to Pugh’s garden centre who have given us some lovely herbs and compost to use in our sensory garden. Sue has planted these with the children already and the photos can be found on our face book page. Check out the poster and leaflets in the foyer for a workshop happening soon at the garden centre!

Many thanks to parents who have brought in spare clothes, this is really helpful to us as sometimes accidents do happen. This also helps us support sustainability for the environment!

Changes in seasons

April Newsletter

We will soon be having a menu update to reflect seasonal changes. We look forward to trying some new food with the children along with some trusty favourites! Don’t forget to keep us informed and updated about any allergies your child has to ensure we are safe at all times. This must be done via e-mail so we are able to keep a copy in the kitchen and your child’s file. Thank you.

As the weather hopefully starts to improve we will be supplying sun cream again. All children who are able to wear the nursery brands have signed for this and records kept. If your child will be using their own cream this MUST be signed for on the appropriate form and the suitable cream kept at nursery at all times. Without this your child will not be permitted to play outdoors. Should you wish to complete a form please see a member of staff in your child’s group. We will remind you of this next month as the weather improves. Brands used by nursery include children’s Boots soltan, nivea and amber solaire all factor 30 or above. Babies will be supplied their own baby creams of the same makes. We are unable to supply sensitive makes or other brands so if you require this then you will need to bring in your own cream. Thank you.

April Newsletter

We are pleased to announce our duck eggs will be arriving on Tuesday 7th April. We have had plenty of information from egg seeds the reputable company who will be supplying and assisting us with the eggs/ducks. We will be sending out participation sheets which can be found in your child’s basket. These MUST be returned to allow your child to take part in the activity. We are asking for a nominal amount to help us with the costs as I’m sure you can appreciate it costs a fair bit. This money will help fund the project and also enhance your child’s learning experience with a special craft activity and personal photo with the ducks.

Topics for this month include celebrating Easter, National garden week, Earth day, St George’s day and International dance day:-

Butterflies - Springtime and flowers
Dragonflies - Springtime, spices and busy feet
Ladybirds - Ourselves, family and people who help us
Caterpillars – Springtime, gardening and Adventures in food land week

New topic planning is underway to ensure a variety of activities on offer for the children, free flow and allowing more choices. The planning has been adapted to allow for these changes and is working well. Well done to all staff for being pro-active!

Lisa has produced a lovely display on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which can be found at the top of the stairs. As a nursery and under the NMS we have due regard to all the children’s rights whilst they are at nursery.

We have had a new computer for the Caterpillars group which has allowed them to access more IT skills through the web, in particular they have been enjoying the learning activity games on CBEEBIES. Feel free to send in suggestions of web sites that you think the children may enjoy that you have had previous experience with!

April Newsletter

Topics in each group this month for March include: You should by now have received your sponsor form for events being held in May to raise money to purchase equipment for all the children at nursery. Please get busy raising as much as you can as all children will be taking part in at least one event. Our first event will be Tuesday 5th May for our move it day!! We can’t wait!!

There are spare forms in the foyer should you need one or please don’t hesitate to ask.

Questionnaires and report

We are in the process of producing our annual quality of care review and will soon be sending out a questionnaire for you to complete. We would be grateful if you could spend 10 minutes to complete and all returned questionnaires will be in with the chance of winning a £20 gift voucher.

Seren M was our poster competition winner for encouraging environmental awareness. Her poster is now proudly displayed around nursery and will be part of our CHASP’s portfolio –well done!

We received certificates for phase 2 and high praise from the CHASP’S team for all our hard work. They are really pleased with our progress and apart from one other nursery we are the only ones to get through phase 2 already and are on our way to completion of this 3 year scheme. Well done to all the staff for taking part!

We have updated our environment policy with Sue our new coordinator of this subject. Policy available on request.

We are always junk modelling so feel free to help us with keeping cardboard boxes, bottles and in particular kitchen roll tubes. The Ladybirds made Robbie the Robot this week as a group project. He looks great!

Healthy body happy me week went really well with lots of fun activities to promote healthy lifestyles. The children enjoyed keeping active, learning about healthy bodies and keeping germs at bay.
