  • As you are all probably already aware that we have had lovely new carpets fitted around the nursery just before Christmas, which we are sure you will agree is a vast improvement, and much more comfortable for the children.
  • We have changed some of our home corners around and over the coming months will be looking at making improvements to all these areas and will be asking parents to get involved at helping us, such as sourcing varies props for different imaginative areas. We will be organising some fun sponsored events to help raise some money to update these areas particularly the home-corners themselves.
  • We have just ordered new tables and chairs for the Dragonflies group (15months – 2years age group) with lovely chunky, low to the ground wooden seats to help children with the transition from a strapped highchair to a grown up seat with no harness, but ensuring the child’s safety at all times.

We have plenty keeping us busy with chasp’s over the coming year, but over the coming month’s we will focusing on the environment section. Keep a look out for further emails of special chasp’s events.

The Igloo and tree went well really well, we hope you had chance to admire these before the bad weather took it’s toll on them

Audit infection control
The outcome of the visit from the Audit infection team we had back in December was very good and the team were happy with our infection control practices at nursery, they were particularly impressed with parent co-operation for period of exclusion of illnesses. We thank-you for adhering to the nurseries polices and procedures.

We have recently purchased some new pedal bins for all groups, new laundry bins and updated some practices around nursery

CIW inspection report will be available soon, we are currently still awaiting the report and have already been making changes to help cut down on the amount of paperwork which is no longer necessary. Over the coming months we will be making some changes to our activity planning and will be cutting out the “at home sheets” and “bi monthly reports” to help us cut down on the amount of paperwork. Children’s profile books will be changing and from January these will be including the observations made by staff on your child. A separate profile book will now be done on each floor, so by the time your child finishes nursery they will have one completed book from upstairs (baby unit and toddler unit) and then will have a separate book for the downstairs groups to record their journey from the age of 2 years to leaving for school / pre-school.

Extra Sessions
A new extra session log has been started for January 2015, extra sessions are still available at the same price as last year, and with the same deal of every 6 you book, you get 1 free!

Employee of the month
For the month of January, it is the parent’s vote for Employee of the month, We would be grateful for all parents to take a couple of minutes to email us with their personal suggestion of which staff member they would like to put forward for the award, this could be for helping to settle your child into nursery, always being happy and accommodating, building a good relationship with your child, etc etc.

If you vote is picked you also will receive a bottle of wine to say thank-you

For December we are happy to announce that Rhian from the 1-2yrs was chosen for the employee of the month, Rhian was chosen for always being happy and smiley and settling in at nursery.
Well done Rhian – Keep up the good work
