July Newsletter
Thank you
Thank you for all your kind leaving gifts, we really appreciate the kind comments and gifts we have received. Having the positive feed back is lovely for the staff providing the care too as we always pass on your regards. We use these comments as quality monitoring and they do really make a difference.

Thank you to all those who have returned the immunisation updates, if you have not yet returned a copy please do so at your earliest convenience as we require these to up date your child’s file. If you are having trouble filling out a form via email some blank copies have been placed in the foyer.

July Newsletter 2 We have been very busy over the past few months celebrating different events, the children have enjoyed Happiness Day, taking part in our healthy eating week, and the falconry visit. We hope you have had chance to have a look at the posters of photographs from these events which are displayed around the nursery. Please visit our face-book page or website for further photographs.

July sees all groups promoting sun smart and sun safety and the following curriculum planning:

Butterflies:- Outdoor fun, box play and water play
Dragonflies:- Creative time, painting, sticking, cooking
Ladybirds:- Summertime, seaside and holidays
Caterpillars:-Summertime, summer food and weather

Goodbye / School leavers
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to all the children who are leaving us to start their next chapter in Big school, we wish you all well and are looking forward to our leavers party on Wednesday 6th August to give them all a lovely send off. Please return your RSVP’s for the party if your child is able to attend. Unfortunately without the slip and payment your child will not be allocated a space on the day for the party. We are looking forward to the Hawaiian themed party with the entertainer from Funtastic Parties. Don’t forget to dress up Hawaiian style!

We have attached our school transitions policy for your attention which will help if your child will be going to school and remind you that we require 1 months notice when your child is due to leave nursery. Thank you.

Improvements/changes around the nursery
We have been busy making some improvements around the nursery over the last month. We have improved our sand pit, having a full enclosure around it and filling it with new play sand. We are waiting on delivery of a new photocopier which will improve the quality of the photographs displayed around the nursery.

We have altered our monthly football skills session to a Friday to give some other children attending a chance to take part and we have had the white lines refreshed in the car park.

July Newsletter 3 Nursery will be closed on Monday 25th August - Bank holiday.

Should you wish to up date yourself with any nursery policies and procedures, you will be able to locate our folder containing all this information in the foyer.

Please see parent boards for other group updates, these are located at the top of the stairs for the baby and toddler groups and downstairs in the foyer for the older groups.

If you are aware of any holiday dates we would be grateful if you to let us know, this can done via email.

Barnardos Big Toddle
We are pleased to inform you that we raised a grand total of £781.17 from our Barnardo’s Big Toddle. Well done for to everyone for making such an effort obtaining sponsorships. The highest sponsorship earner from each group will receive a small gift as a thank-you. The children thoroughly enjoyed the obstacle courses and the use of the soft play which we hired for the day.

Concept Photography
The Concept photographer was very good and we will be receiving the photos back very soon!

July Newsletter 4 An Infection control audit has been carried out in whole of nursery and we are pleased to report we are doing well and beyond expectations in all areas. This has been useful for tightening procedures so a big thank you to all the staff who helped.

Lisa and Gemma attended a chasps (Cardiff Healthy and Sustainable pre-school scheme) event last week and set up a fantastic table to present all the hard work we’ve been putting in at nursery. The event went very well and we received a lovely framed certificate for completing phase 1 of the award. We have set up an area in the foyer, which we welcome parents to view, with scrap books showing exactly what we have been up to at nursery.

We are now working towards phase 2 of the award which involves looking at promoting Emotional Health and Wellbeing in the setting. Our Pre inspection visit went very well and praised all areas, but in particularly circle time sessions - so well done Lisa and downstairs groups, we look forward to our next visit in October to assess us.

Parent input
July Newsletter 5 We are looking for ideas for a new parent display in foyer. We loved all the favourite outdoor photos and we would be grateful for any ideas you have and what family photo’s you would wish to send in? Please let us know any suggestions you may have.
